About Valla DNS
What it is
Valla DNS is a free set of DNS, email, network, and SSL diagnostic tools, built by Valla Hub LLC. There are no accounts, no signup, no ads, and no daily limits. Every check runs against live authoritative and public data, your zone's own nameservers, the public resolvers, RDAP registry records, Certificate Transparency logs, and the global routing table, so the answer reflects reality at the moment you ask, not a cached guess.
Why we built it
Most free DNS tools answer "what is the record" and stop. The questions that actually cost people time are deeper: when is my change done, why is my domain SERVFAILing, which nameserver is out of sync, is my mail about to be black-holed by an MTA-STS policy that no longer matches my MX. Valla DNS was built to answer those.
- A propagation clock that reads each resolver's remaining cache TTL and tells you the minute the last one updates.
- DNSSEC that validates the chain of trust (does the parent DS match your key, do the signatures verify), not just whether a DS exists.
- An SSL grade with real cipher enumeration and full Certificate Transparency history.
- Email checks that catch silent failures: MTA-STS enforce coverage and DMARC external-destination verification.
- Per-nameserver zone health, RPKI validity, and per-hop ASN on traceroute.
How it works
Nothing here is scraped from a third party. DNS answers come from public resolvers and your domain's authoritative servers directly; WHOIS from RDAP (with a port-43 fallback for ccTLDs that have no RDAP); SSL from a live TLS handshake we control; routing and RPKI from the public BGP table. When an upstream is slow or unreachable, a check degrades to an honest "could not determine" rather than a false pass.
